Attached Dome Patios in Perth

An attached dome patio connects directly to the house wall, extending the living area outward under a covered, engineered roof.

The connection to the house is the most technically demanding part of the job. We detail every attached patio with purpose-made flashing and engineer-certified brackets so the joint is weathertight and structurally sound.

Everything is done under a WA building permit. Council approval and the engineer certification are managed by us from start to finish.

How we attach the dome patio to your home

The wall connection is where most patio leaks start. We address this at the design stage, not after the fact.

The wall plate and ledger

A structural wall plate or ledger is fixed to the dwelling at a height that allows the dome to rise to its apex and still shed water clear of the house wall. The fixing method depends on your wall type - brick veneer, double brick, or Hebel.

Flashing detail

We run custom-folded flashing up behind the cladding and over the first run of the dome sheeting. This is the detail that determines whether you get leaks in year one or year twenty.

Tell us about your wall type

Brick veneer, double brick, and Hebel block all need different fixing methods. Render over brick and fibre cement cladding also each have their own flashing details. We identify the wall type at the site measure and design accordingly.

Existing gutters and downpipes

In many cases we can connect the new patio gutter to the existing downpipe system so no new penetrations are required through the paving or lawn.

Materials and certifications

Every attached patio we build uses BlueScope structural steel for the frame and Colorbond for the roofing. The fasteners and brackets are galvanised.

The structure is engineer-certified before the permit is lodged. We hand over a copy of the engineer's certificate and the building permit at completion.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Double-brick walls provide a solid anchor point. We use masonry anchors rated for the load and detail the flashing to sit under the mortar course, which is the cleanest and most weathertight approach.

We assess the existing gutter line at the site measure. In most cases we can drop the new patio wall plate below the existing gutter or adjust the connection point. We have not yet met a situation that required gutters to be relocated.

A covered patio reduces direct sun on the house wall, which can lower summer heat gain. It does not change the wall's insulation value, but many owners notice the interior near the patio stays cooler on hot days.

Boundary setbacks are set by your local council's R-Code provisions and any specific conditions on your title. We check the applicable setbacks during design.

A permitted, engineer-certified structure built in durable materials typically adds to the appeal of a property at sale. We cannot put a dollar figure on it, but the permit documentation and guarantee certificate are tangible assets you hand over to the next owner.

Yes. An under-fascia or under-eave connection is one of the most common approaches and gives a very clean line. We assess the eave height and gutter position at the site measure to confirm the best attachment method for your roof.

No. We use purpose-made flashing and brackets designed for the connection, and we work to the manufacturer's details for your roof type. Done correctly, the attachment is weathertight and does not compromise the existing roof.

Yes. The fixing method changes with the wall type, render, weatherboard, brick, or framed, and the engineer specifies the right anchor and load path for each. We confirm the wall construction at the site visit.
